23 June : Roger Woodward is a distinguished and highly acclaimed concert pianist and musician. He has been called "Australia's leading concert pianist" by the Alliance Francaise Sydney, and has been acclaimed by famous musicians Arthur Rubinstein and Sir Yehudi Menuhin. His many recordings have received high praise, with his recent recording of Bach's "The Well Tempered Clavier" being exceptionally well-received. 2 July (Classical Subscription Series): A performance of the always immensely talented Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellows. The Sydney Symphony’s flagship training ensemble will visit Goulburn for the second time. The Fellows are chosen annually from over a hundred applicants through an extremely competitive process. The selected musicians are provided with a year of intense mentoring and tutoring with the musicians of the Sydney Symphony and its international guest artists. They also have the opportunity to regularly perform with the Sydney Symphony as part of the orchestra. Room 12, 7:30pm, $35/30/25 (GRC student), Subscription ticketing available.
29 July (Classical Subscription Series): Simon Tedeschi is quite often described by respected critics and musical peers as “one of the finest artists in the world”. He has recorded with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra including a performance in front of a crowd of 100,000 in 2001. Tedeschi’s debut CD led to nominations for a MO Award for Classical Performer of the Year and an Aria award for Classical Record of the Year. 1 September (Classical Subscription Series): A young and energetic guitar ensemble formed in 2005, the Melbourne Guitar Quartet features Anthony Field, Ben Dix, Jeremy Tottenham and Peter Karutz. Displaying expert musicianship at an international performance standard, MGQ have a strong reputation for playing with a vibrant energy and maturity, showcasing both their classical skill and contemporary invention. The MGQ treated the audience a thoroughly entertaining performance at The Con last year. Room 12, 7:30pm, $35/30/25 (GRC student), Subscription ticketing available.
