Luke Wheeldon

Luke has been teaching Guitar since 1994 and has been a tutor at the GRC since 2002. He holds a Diploma in Arts (Music). Luke started playing Guitar professionally in 1993 at the age of 16 and has only ever had one other job, which was selling Guitars. He is also a songwriter, sound engineer and producer.

In addition to teaching, Luke runs the Rock School program, which is dedicated to developing young bands song-writing, performance skills and providing them with recording opportunities. 4 recordings produced at these sessions have gone on to receive national airplay on JJJ.

 As a songwriter and part of a band Luke has released 4 CD’s with one receiving international distribution. As a session player he has played on 15 commercially released recordings and countless demos. He also teaches Bass Guitar and Drum Kit, his first instrument. Luke encourages all of his students, regardless of the instrument they play, to learn Drum Kit or rudimentary percussion skills, because of the huge benefits a strong sense of rhythm provides.

 Luke currently has a studio of over 75 students and enjoys sharing knowledge and teaching the instrument he loves immensely.
